Jeffrey P. Gold, MD

In April of 2024, Dr. Gold was selected by the Board of Regents as the ninth president of the University of Nebraska R1 BIG10 multi-campus land grant system. From 2014-2024, Dr. Gold served as Chancellor of the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). Prior to joining UNMC, Dr. Gold served as Chancellor of the University of Toledo’s health science campus, and at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Weill Cornell Medical College. Dr. Gold graduated from the Cornell University College of Engineering before earning his medical degree from the Weill Cornell College of Medicine. His graduate medical education included a surgery residency at The New York Hospital and Memorial Hospital, and a cardiothoracic residency at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Gold serves as a volunteer for numerous organizations that address both education and health. He is a past Chair of the ACGME Board of Directors and has held leadership roles within the American Medical Association and the Liaison Committee for Medical Education. Dr. Gold has directed UNMC’s outreach to Tongji University in Shanghai.
