Preview: 2025 ACGME Annual Educational Conference

The ACGME-I team is looking forward to seeing attendees in Nashville on 20-22 February for the 2025 ACGME Annual Educational Conference! A robust schedule of learning and networking opportunities gives the nearly five thousand attendees a large selection of options, ranging from updates on specialties to focused AI sessions and more. All sessions and conference activities will take place in the conference venue, The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.

ACGME-I is presenting its annual “Update on International Accreditation from the ACGME-I Team” on Saturday, 22 February, at 8:15 a.m. in Ryman Studio D. Its partner, ACGME Global Services, will present “Enhancing Physician Competency: Education and Training Amid Global Health Workforce Mobility Challenges” on Friday, 21 February, at 1:30 p.m. in Jackson D.

During the Full-Day Course entitled, “Be the Best Program Director You Can Be: A Course for Program Directors,” taking place Thursday, 20 February, ACGME-I Executive Director Lorraine B Lewis, EdD, will present a session on international accreditation, giving tips on applications and site visits. This course will be held in the Presidential C Ballroom; locations for various breakout sessions will be announced separately.

New update: ACGME-I will host a gathering of graduate medical education (GME) researchers and innovators during the conference, bringing together GME scholars to discuss research opportunities, potential collaborations, and to foster networking. This meeting is open to all attendees, and representatives of The Journal of Graduate Medical Education are also scheduled to attend. This meeting will be held on Friday, 21 February, at 4:30 p.m. in Delta Island C.

Immediately after the research meeting, ACGME-I and ACGME Global Services invite all attendees to their annual International Reception, to be held just steps away at Delta Island A/B starting at 6:00 p.m. Both groups look forward to catching up with colleagues in a relaxed, convivial environment, and to make new connections and contacts!

Thursday, 20 February

  • As part of the “Be the Best Program Director You Can Be: A Course for Program Directors” Full-Day Course on Thursday, 20 February, ACGME-I Executive Director Dr. Lorraine C. Lewis will present a session on ACGME-I applications, offering insightful tips and answering questions.
  • Marvin R. Dunn Welcoming Poster Reception and Exhibitor Kick-Off, beginning at 5:30 p.m., offers a venue to network with thousands of attendees, speak with researchers and innovators at their poster displays, visit with the many exhibitors, and connect with numerous ACGME departments and initiatives in the ACGME Hub—including the joint booth for ACGME-I and ACGME Global Services. The ACGME Hub will be open whenever the Exhibit Hall is open, so please come by to ask questions or say hello!
  • The winners of the 2025 ACGME International Awards will be celebrated at an invite-only dinner alongside their ACGME counterparts.

Friday, 21 February

  • President’s Plenary delivered by ACGME President and CEO and ACGME-I Board Chair Debra F. Weinstein, MD (9:00 a.m.). This session will be livestreamed to all Opryland hotel rooms and via the Conference Mobile App.
  • “Enhancing Physician Competency: Education and Training Amid Global Health Workforce Mobility Challenges,” with ACGME Global Services (1:30 p.m.).
  • International Research Group meeting in Delta Island C – open to all interested GME researchers (4:00 p.m.).
  • Everyone is welcome to attend the International Reception in Delta Island A/B, a wonderful way to unwind and network with GME professionals from around the world in a relaxed environment (6:00 p.m.).

Saturday, 22 February

  • “Update on International Accreditation from the ACGME-I Team,” featuring the Chairs of the Review Committees-International and ACGME-I staff members (8:15 a.m.).
  • Marvin R. Dunn Keynote Address: “A Surgeon’s Fight for Health Justice,” presented by Ala Stanford, MD (10:00 a.m.). This session will be livestreamed to all Opryland hotel rooms and via the Conference Mobile App.
  • Thomas J. Nasca Lecture: “The Science of Compassion in Medicine,” delivered by Stephen Trzeciak, MD, MPH (4:00 p.m.).
  • Close out the #ACGME2025 experience by joining attendees for the traditional Toast on the Terrace with ACGME Leadership.
